QEP at Tougaloo College

Welcome to Tougaloo College's QEP web site!

On this web site, we'll introduce to you and highlight important areas on why QEP is so important at Tougaloo College.

 

In 2002, when Dr. Beverly Wade Hogan began her tenure as President of Tougaloo College, she facilitated the development of eight strategic initiatives to guide the advancement of the College.  These initiatives were implemented and have served as the foundation for new programs, courses, policies, procedures, etc., undertaken by the College:

 

 

1. College Redesign/Restructure Initiative - Tougaloo College will redesign and restructure its programs, personnel, and functions to become a more efficient and effective 21stCentury institution.

 

2. Enrollment Initiative - Tougaloo College will increase its enrollment by 5% annually to achieve a stable base of 1,000 students.

 

3. Global Curriculum Initiative - Tougaloo College will revise and update its curriculum for 21st Century careers and professions.

 

4. Alternative Educational Programs Initiative - Tougaloo College will develop programs that address the needs of adult and non-traditional learners through flexible scheduling, alternative delivery models, and other marketplace strategies.

 

5. Improved Campus Facilities Initiative - Tougaloo College will provide excellent and

functional campus facilities.

 

6. Resource Development Initiative - Tougaloo College will stabilize and diversify its financial resources to provide sustained funding for its programs and services.

 

7. Marketing Plan Initiative - Tougaloo College will develop a marketing plan that addresses state, regional, and national needs and constituents.

 

8. Technology Initiative - Tougaloo College will provide its faculty and students

with current technology resources.

About our President...

Tougaloo College maintains its distinguished reputation for academic excellence and social responsibility under the leadership of the 13th and first woman president, Dr. Beverly Wade Hogan. Appointed as President in May 2002, Hogan brings to the office more than 25 years in executive leadership and management.

 

Visionary, an “outside the box” thinker, disciplined, compassionate, firm, fair, analytical and spiritual leader—all of these aptly describe Hogan as she moves Tougaloo College to the next level in its evolution. Since 2002, new degree programs in mass communications, hotel and hospitality management, and religious studies have been approved and are operational. There is a new Honors Program and among other scholars, five Gates Millennium Scholars are also enrolled. Three new centers have been established—the Center for Undergraduate Research, the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Studies, and the Center for Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility. An Office of International Affairs has been launched and significant technological improvements have been made, including Internet2 connectivity. Student enrollment has increased by 12%, and student retention is at 68%. Alumni giving has increased from 13% to 39%.
